"Prenatal -

Expectant moms experience unique physical and emotional changes that occur as a result of increased weight, shifting posture, and adjusting hormone levels. While this is a beautiful period of heightened expectation and joy, mothers-to-be also endure heightened physical discomfort that ranges from muscular tension and headaches to pressure on the knees. Prenatal massage is a natural therapy aimed at alleviating these and other pregnancy related symptoms."

Besides, how many onesies do any of us really need?! Mmmmm... Bottom Balm!

To Drink or Not to Drink - That is the Pregnant Woman's Question!

Popular opinion suggests drinking with a bun in the oven is a strict no-no. When I asked my OB about it, he said that the bright line rule against drinking was, "because if we tell pregnant women they can drink, they will overdo it." Really? Do doctors think so little of us that they think we can't understand what 'one drink' means? What about women in other countries who regularly consume alcohol while pregnant seemingly without taboo or negative consequences? This remains a hotly debated subject, both among researches and among my friends.

A study recently released from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) showed that 1 in 8 American women drink while pregnant. The study spanned 15 years and concluded that the number of preggos who imbibe is not decreasing. Disturbingly, the study also found that 1 in 50 pregnant women engaged in "binge drinking" (unofficially defined by my magazines as imbibing more than two beverages at a sitting). The age group most likely to drink while pregnant was women ages 35-44 (17.7%). The binge drinkers were more likely to be 1) employed and 2) unmarried. Over half a million women were part of the study.
